It’s going to be okay—from someone who felt hopeless at one point too.

My own fertility experience is a big part of why this work means so much to me. I remember how overwhelming it can feel to want a family and be unsure of what comes next. Today, I support women and couples who are preparing for pregnancy, struggling to conceive, or navigating fertility treatments. Wherever you’re starting, I want you to feel heard and have the time to ask your questions.

Together, we can look at your health, make sense of your test results, and talk through the next steps for you. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. I offer virtual fertility support across BC. Visit the link in my bio to learn more about working together.

Dr. Marissa Gaucher, ND — offering personalized Naturopathic fertility support, hormone health care, PCOS management and IVF support through virtual appointments across British Columbia, Canada.

Your fertility doesn’t change overnight on your 35th birthday.

Part of the focus on 35 comes from older prenatal testing guidelines. It became a cutoff for offering amniocentesis, a test used during pregnancy to check for certain chromosomal conditions. The choice was influenced by the costs and benefits of testing at the time. It wasn’t a biological deadline for becoming pregnant.

Fertility does change with age, with a faster decline through the mid-to-late 30s. Those changes happen over time, and many women conceive and have healthy pregnancies after 35. Your age alone cannot tell us what your individual experience will be.

As a Naturopathic Doctor, my goal is to help you feel informed and supported. We can take the time to understand your cycle, review your health, and talk through your options.

Whether you’re hoping to conceive now, soon, or someday, I’m here to meet you where you are. Whatever questions you have, we can work through them together.

PMOS (PCOS) can mean unpredictable cycles, persistent acne, unwanted hair growth or hair thinning, exhaustion, difficulty conceiving or feeling like your body is working against you. Yet, not one woman who has come to see me with this diagnosis has received a clear explanation of how these pieces connect.

Not one.

PMOS looks different in every woman. That’s why care can’t begin and end with birth control or metformin. Both can help, but neither is right or tolerable for everyone. You deserve more than a prescription. You deserve to understand your own body.

That’s the gap I’m here to close.

Follow along. I’m here to make PMOS make sense.

AN UNEXPECTED BENEFIT OF LIP FILLER | A more hydrated-looking lip. Most people hear “lip filler” and think volume. But that isn’t always the goal. If you have lots of fine lines through your lips no matter how much lip chap you use, surface dryness may not be the whole issue. Revanesse® Kiss™ is made with hyaluronic acid, a water-loving molecule that creates a soft, water-rich gel within the lip. This can soften the look of those lines and leave the lips looking smoother and more hydrated. That doesn’t mean we have to make your lips look noticeably bigger. A conservative treatment can focus on improving texture and subtle support while keeping the result natural. It won’t replace lip chap or treat cracked, irritated skin. But if you’re applying balm all day and those lines are still there, filler may help in a way lip balm can’t.

For this patient, we opted for a half syringe (0.6 ml) Revanesse® Kiss™ for hydration. If you're looking to book lip filler, you can find me across Kelowna, Kamloops, Lake Country and Vernon: @beautiful_u_kamloops, @merlenormankelowna, @odettesskinlaserwellnessclinic @thesanctuarybotox @bodybarkelowna @kelownalaserspa

It’s easy to feel discouraged by the state of women’s healthcare, so when there IS good news, it's worth sharing. Here are eight recent advancements that are giving me some much-needed hope:
The state of women’s healthcare can feel discouraging, so I wanted to pause and share six recent signs of progress that are giving me some much-needed hope:
1️⃣ PCOS is now known as PMOS
Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome better reflects the condition’s hormonal and metabolic nature—not simply the presence of ovarian “cysts.”

2️⃣ HPV vaccination is helping prevent cervical cancer deaths
An English study recorded no cervical cancer deaths among women aged 20–24 from 2020–2024—encouraging evidence for Canada’s efforts to eliminate cervical cancer through vaccination and screening.

3️⃣ New endometriosis tests could speed up diagnosis
Draft UK guidance could bring two non-invasive tests into primary care while more evidence is collected—a hopeful step for a condition that still takes at least five years to diagnose in Canada.

4️⃣ A Canadian women’s-health framework has moved forward in the Senate
Bill S-243 has reached Senate committee; if passed, it would establish a national framework addressing research, professional education, preventive care and equitable access.

5️⃣ Canada’s Can-RISE study is addressing gaps in menopause research
The national study is gathering women’s experiences of perimenopause and menopause to help inform future care, research and policy.

6️⃣ A new research chair is dedicated to women’s heart health
Manitoba’s new chair will lead women-focused cardiovascular research and help translate that evidence into better care.

Of course, we still have a LONG way to go, but I hope this progress provides you hope and motivates you to continue advocating for your own health as a woman.

SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO | For well over a decade, I’ve been studying and learning all that I can as a Naturopathic Doctor. My colleagues already know—a lifetime of learning is a requirement within our field. There are a million different areas where you can focus your attention. It wasn’t until my own fertility journey that the direction of my practice became abundantly clear. I am here to help women and couples find hope within what can feel like a hopeless cluster of information, tests, “normal” results and month after month of heartbreak.

If you or someone you know is looking for fertility support, available virtually across BC, I’d be so grateful if you sent them here: drmarissagaucher.com

COULD IT BE ENDO? | One of the hardest parts of endometriosis can be the years spent knowing something feels wrong but not feeling heard. Not having a diagnosis.

When a patient tells me that their pain is affecting their cycle, relationships, work, or ability to conceive, I take their experience seriously. You know your body, and your symptoms deserve more than being dismissed as “just a bad period.” Historically, women’s pain and reproductive health concerns have been minimized, understudied, or treated as something they are simply expected to endure. I’m committed to doing my part to change that cycle.

My mission is to provide you with support and bring clarity to what your body may already be trying to communicate. You should not have to spend years convincing someone that the way you feel is real. As a woman who felt helpless for years during my own fertility journey, please let this be your takeaway: there is hope, and you don’t need to do this alone.

What if lip filler wasn't about volume? What if it was about hydration? What if it was about symmetry? Lip filler has gotten a bad reputation for looking "fake," but as you can see, results can be undetectable. For this patient, we opted to use just a half syringe (0.6 mL) of Revanesse® Kiss™, enough to make an impact without being "too much."

If you're considering lip filler, I'd love to chat. Book your consultation at any of my clinics across Kelowna, Kamloops, Vernon or Lake Country.

COOL GIRLS HAVE COOL JOBS | Mine is getting to talk about faces, fertility, confidence, and hormones all in the same week. Some days I am creating treatment plans including botox, filler, or Sculptra®. Some days I am talking through lab work, cycles, and creating fertility support treatment plans. In both sides of my practice, I meet the coolest patients, and love hearing all the big things they are making happen in their respective industries. So, what’s your cool job? Let’s celebrate YOU in the comments.
