why I offer neuromodulators (botox/dysport/nuceiva)
I invite you to explore everything you need to know about neuromodulators in Kamloops, Kelowna, Lake Country and Vernon, BC. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
but what actually are neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators— commonly known by brand names like BOTOX®, Dysport® and Nuceiva™ —are purified proteins that gently relax the tiny facial muscles responsible for creating expression lines. When these muscles are at rest, the skin above them smooths, softening existing lines and helping prevent new ones from forming.
Each brand of neuromodulator has its own subtle differences, but they all share the same goal: to relax targeted muscles safely and predictably for a smoother, more refreshed appearance. The treatment is quick, comfortable, and requires no downtime.
As a Naturopathic Doctor and cosmetic injector, my approach to neuromodulators is intentional and conservative. Every dose and placement is guided by your unique anatomy to create balanced, natural results that preserve your expression.
For my patients, this means never looking “frozen” or overdone. Just subtle, high-quality results that enhance confidence.
what can neuromodulators treat?
Neuromodulators are among the most popular treatments I offer. My approach is both conservative and anatomy-led, focusing on how each area of the face interacts to create balance and natural movement. Every treatment is fully customized—some patients prefer a touch of movement, others prefer a smoother finish. We’ll tailor your plan to match your unique goals.
Below are some of the most common areas I treat with neuromodulators:
forehead lines
glabellar “11s”
Often called frown lines, these appear when we furrow our brows or concentrate. Softening this area can lift the heaviness between the eyes and reduce the appearance of tension or fatigue.
crow’s feet
These fine lines appear from years of smiling and squinting. Treating them helps smooth the outer eye area while maintaining natural movement for expressions that still feel genuine.
brow lift zones
A few carefully placed injections can gently lift the tail of the brow, giving the eyes a more open and rested appearance—without surgery or downtime.
bunny lines
These small diagonal lines form on the sides of the nose when we smile or laugh. A touch of neuromodulator smooths them while keeping your natural expressions intact.
lip flip
A subtle, popular treatment that relaxes the muscle around the mouth so the upper lip gently “flips” outward. This enhances the appearance of volume and balance without adding filler.
chin
Some people develop texture or dimpling on the chin when the mentalis muscle contracts. Relaxing this area smooths the surface for a softer, more refined lower face.
masseters
Injecting the masseter muscles helps relieve jaw tension and teeth grinding while also creating a slimmer, more contoured jawline for some patients.
neck
Neuromodulators can relax the vertical neck bands that appear with age or strain, softening the jawline and restoring a smoother neck profile.
therapeutic uses
Beyond cosmetic purposes, neuromodulators can also help manage medical concerns such as migraines, TMJ-related pain or clenching, and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). If these issues affect your quality of life, we can discuss whether therapeutic botox may be an appropriate option for you.
neuromodulators patient transformations

For this patient, since we were treating the frowners (the “11s” between the brows) and forehead, we opted for Dysport®, which tends to kick-in faster that Botox® Cosmetic, typically 5 days post-treatment as opposed to 14 days.

frequently asked questions
How much is botox?
Botox pricing depends on the area treated and the number of units needed to achieve your goals. In Kelowna, Kamloops, and Vernon, treatments typically range from $9–$14 per unit. The number of units varies based on muscle strength, size, and desired outcome. For example, smaller areas like a lip flip may need just a few units, while stronger muscles such as the forehead or jaw require more. During your consultation, we’ll review your treatment plan, outline pricing, and ensure you feel fully informed before moving forward.
How does botox work?
How long does botox last?
Most neuromodulators last about three to four month. However, some patients—especially those with less muscle activity or with repeated treatments—may see results lasting closer to five or six months.
Because every face and muscle pattern is unique, results can vary slightly between treatment areas (for example, the forehead may fade faster than the masseters).
How soon will I see results after botox?
Does botox hurt?
Most patients find botox injections very tolerable. I use an ultra-fine needle, and while you might feel a quick pinch or slight pressure, the sensation is brief. To make the experience even easier, I can apply numbing cream or ice beforehand, and I always use gentle, anatomy-led techniques to minimize discomfort and bruising. In some cases, I may use a cannula instead of a traditional needle, which allows for fewer entry points and an even smoother experience.
Is botox safe?
There is risk with any cosmetic procedure and it is very valid that you may have concerns—I encourage you to ask all your questions before committing to any new procedure. The most common side effects include mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site, which typically resolve within a few days. More serious complications are rare, but it’s important to choose an experienced provider who is transparent about risks and attentive to your health history.
Am I a good candidate for botox?
It’s not recommended if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, have certain neurological conditions, or an active skin infection or inflammation near the injection site. Beyond cosmetic purposes, botox also offers therapeutic benefits, providing relief for concerns like chronic migraines, TMJ pain, muscle tension, and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). This versatility makes it a trusted treatment choice for patients across the Okanagan region who want to both enhance confidence and improve overall comfort.
Will my wrinkles be worse if I stop botox?
What downtime can I expect after botox injections?
Botox treatments require little to no downtime. Most patients return to their usual activities the same day. That said, following proper aftercare helps ensure the best, most natural-looking results.
While we’ll review everything thoroughly during your consultation and appointment, familiarizing yourself with Botox and Filler: Essential Dos and Don’ts Before and After Injections can help you minimize risks, support healing, and get the most out of your treatment. Think of it as your go-to guide for cosmetic injection care—perfect for refreshing your memory before each visit.
What's the difference between botox and dermal filler?
While both are cosmetic injectables, they work very differently. Botox (neuromodulators) relax targeted muscles to soften expression lines like frown lines or crow’s feet. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, add volume beneath the skin to smooth wrinkles, plump lips, or restore fullness in areas that have lost elasticity with age. Many patients combine the two!
Will botox make my face look frozen?
When performed correctly, botox won’t freeze your face or make you look expressionless. The “frozen” look you sometimes see on TV is the result of over-treatment, not neuromodulators themselves. My approach focuses on natural-looking results by carefully assessing your facial anatomy, muscle strength, and personal preferences before treatment. Some patients prefer a little movement even at peak effectiveness, while others want a smoother finish. Either way, you’ll still be able to smile, laugh, and show emotion.
